    Heart Chakra Korean Singing Bowl

See more on YouTube Korean brassware, called Yugi is made of copper, zinc & gold.  The history of Korean brassware stems from the prehistoric bronze era.  During the Three Kingdoms period (three kingdoms ruled Korea about 11500 years ago), there was an exclusive organization in the Shilla (one of the three) government for Yugi roduction.  During the Koryo dynasty (918-1392), Yugi technology prevailed all over the country for every purpose including daily items, musical instruments & bowls for temples.  During the Chosun period (1392-1910), Yugi production was promoted by the government and become the basic tableware along with ceramic ware. There are three techniques used to produce Yugi, - casting, hammering, and half-hammering, which is a combination of the two.  In the casting process, brassware is melted, and then cast into its final shape.   In the hammering process, the melt is first cast into a simple block, and then hammered into final shapes by numerous repeating of annealing (treatment of metal by heating to a predetermined temperature, holding for a certain time, and then cooling to room temperature, done to improve ductility and reduce brittleness) and hammering.  The hammering process requires a team of blacksmiths to work together.  The hammering process creates brassware - called Pancha-Yugi that makes clear and beautiful sounds and as such are suitable to be used as musical instruments, such as the Singing Bowls. All of our Korean Singing Bowls are created by an artist who is a Korean National Treasure.  Every item that he makes - from ritual dishes to the singing bowls - are made with gold mixed with the copper and zinc, giving each of them a sustained clarity that is unmatched by other makers.  The brass-gold alloy Singing Bowls are made using the hammering process mentioned above. They are believed to start in one chakra and move to the next.  In Korea, these singing bowls are used in major Buddhist temples in ceremonies and struck to begin and end meditation. The quality and sustainability of resonance is amazing. Bowl diameter at the top is 8 1/4". It is thick and heavy and truly loveable!

    STORY OF THE WEDDING VASE

Usually a week or two before they are married by a priest, the future husband's parents make the Wedding Vase.

When the vase has been made, the husband, along with his parents and all his relatives go to the bride's house. The bride brings out everything she will need to establish their new home together: clothing, utensils, mattress, moccasins, corn and any other homemaking essentials, including her white manta wedding dress.

The parents of both the bride and the groom give the young couple advice to help them have a happy and successful marriage.

Indian holy water is placed in the wedding vase, and the vase is turned around and given to the bride.

She drinks from one side of the vase, turns it around again, and gives it to the groom, who then drinks from the opposite side. This ceremony unites them as one.

The couple will treasure the Vase throughout their married life. Should one of them outlive the other, the remaining person will give the vase to a couple known to be living a happily married life.

The wedding vase is treasured and protected always-it is never broken, discarded or destroyed.

As told by Margaret Gutierrez, Santa Clara Pueblo, New Mexico.

Native American Symbols, like the Zuni Bear symbol, can vary in meaning from one tribe to another and across the culture of groups in North America. The Meaning of the Bear Symbol:  Native American Indians were a deeply spiritual people and they communicated their history, thoughts, ideas and dreams from generation to generation through symbols and signs such as this Zuni Bear symbol. Native American symbols are geometric portrayals of celestial bodies, natural phenomena and animal designs.  The Bear symbolizes the most powerful of animals who is believed to the Guardian of the West and has the power to heal and to transform passions into true wisdom. The Zuni Bear Symbol-Fetish has been used throughout history as an object of magical powers. Native Americans of the Zuni tribe believe if you place a small amount of corn meal under the nose of a Zuni Bear image when you leave your home will be protected while you are away.  Its strengths are therefore passed on to the owner.

The Flower of Life is a name for a geometrical figure composed of seven or more evenly-spaced, overlapping circles. This figure, used as a decorative motif since ancient times, forms a flower-like pattern with the symmetrical structure of a hexagon.  The flower of life has provided what is considered to be deep spiritual meaning and forms of enlightenment to those who have studied it as sacred geometry. There are groups of people all over the world who derive particular beliefs and forms of meditation based (at least in part) on the Flower of Life. It is said to contain the patterns of creation as they emerged from the "Great Void".
